Ndiaganiao: a developing region
A historical turning point in community development
In 2013, Ndiaganiao took a crucial step in its evolution from a simple rural settlement into a key region, thanks to its adoption of the law 2013-10 on the 28th of December of that year, collectively known as the Third Act of Decentralisation. The central objective of this law is to structure Senegal into competitive and viable territories, well suited for sustainable development.
The Ndiaganiao region is home to an estimated population of 59,239 inhabitants, spread across 38 villages. Its strategic geographical position, 30km from Mbour, the main town in the area, and 110km from Dakar, the capital city of the country, adds to its importance at the heart of the region.
ADED and its partners united against COVID-19
Between May 2021 and April 2022, the Association for Development and Education in Development (ADED), played a key role in a sensitisation project around hygiene and the promotion of hand washing in the schools of Thiandre, a village within the region of Ndiaganiao. This initiative is part of the fight undertaken against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thanks to a fruitful collaboration with its partners, ADED managed to train 1,760 pupils to ensure the establishment of strong hygiene routines within their families and communities. In parallel, 50 hand washing facilities were installed in the seven schools, about seven facilities per school, thereby reinforcing sanitation measures at a local level. Sensitisation sessions were also organised to reinforce awareness in relation to the adoption of basic hygiene practice, thus adding to the promotion of a healthy environment and the prevention of the spreading of infectious diseases.
